RESEARCH IN NURSING

RESEARCH IN NURSING
18 October, 2023 Centro Médico Manzanera

Nurses base their practice on scientific evidence. On numerous occasions, we as nurses cannot receive the acknowledgement of their findings as our own and must turn to the studies carried out by other disciplines to focus on our praxis. Therefore, it is our responsibility to assume the importance of the investigation in our profession and acquire a role in it. We have the capacity to attend to our patients and work on research.
We must focus on solutions to problems that arise in care practice to develop the investigation in our field which is assisted reproduction. Our starting point for all scientific studies is trying to respond to the questions and doubts which are raised by our patients daily at the clinics.
The investigation must be an aspect focused on daily work, but in our day-to-day life, we face obstacles impeding its development. Among the factors that hinder our involvement in research projects, we encounter: an overload of care work and lack of time for its realisation; the belief among the nurses themselves that research is a complex field destined for other professionals, relegating the nurses to a mere assistance role and not to the role of investigation; lack of training and resources for research projects.
Promoting the participation of nurses in research projects will contribute to the progress of our profession allowing us to acquire more autonomy and professional independence inside of the multidisciplinary teams and generating our expertise independent from the medical practice.
We need to investigate and broadcast the results to develop and enrich the nursing practice.
There are numerous working groups in the field of assisted reproduction for nurses in the National Association of Clinics of Assisted Reproduction (ANACER) and the Spanish Society of Fertility (SEF) where we could do multi-centre studies which can help improve our profession.
If you have any doubts or would like to receive information about some treatment, you can contact us by sending an email to ivf@centromedicomanzanera.com or by filling in the contact form which you can find on our website: https://form.centromedicomanzanera.com/en
