Embryonal Selection Embrace

Embrace: Embryo analysis of culture environment.

  • EMBRACE is a test that analyzes the embryonic free DNA released during the embryo-culture by an embryo from day 4 to days 6/7 of development.
  • EMBRACE is only applicable if obtained from blastocysts on day 6 or 7 of the development. It cannot be realized with embryos in an earlier embryonic development.
  • EMBRACE classifies embryos by organizing them according to their probability of being chromosomally normal. With this information, you can decide which embryo to transfer first in an IVF cycle to improve your chances of achieving a healthy baby.

An non-invasive test:

EMBRACE is a non-invasive test, which allows us to prioritize those embryos during the transfer, which have the highest chance of being chromosomally normal, evading an embryonal biopsy at the same time.

In Vitro Fertilization:

During an In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), any couple can confront the situation to have a higher risk of producing aneuploid or chromosomally abnormal embryos, which might be a consequence of age or other reasons. In order to avoid these negative results, this is why it is very important to be able to identify those embryos with a higher chance of being euploid, and to prioritize the transfer of these during a treatment of assisted reproduction. Consequently, this increases the success rate and the chance for a pregnancy with a healthy baby.

Without biopsy:

Recent studies have shown that embryos which are obtained during a treatment of assisted reproduction do liberate DNA during their development. The analysis of this free DNA, which is present during the cultivation with massive sequencing techniques or NGS, opens a door for a new era of non-invasive analysis of the number of embryonal chromosomes, without the need for a biopsy.

Conclusion:

We can say that this non-invasive strategy through the priorization of those embryos with a higher chance of euploidy can increase the possibility to have a pregnancy with a healthy baby during the assisted reproduction.

Results:

The results of the non-invasive Analysis of free embryonal DNA showed a high rate of accordance with the results of trophoectoderm biobsies. The agreement rate was an 78.2 %, altering between 72.5 % and 86.3 % depending on the different scientific centers. Furthermore, it did not show significant differences, neither in the conditions of cultivation nor in the quality of the blastocysts.

Identifying the embryos with higher possibilities:

It is the new non-invasive test developed by Igenomix, which allows us to identify the embryos with a higher chance of being chromosomally normal.

With this information, the expert can decide which embryo to transfer in first place during an IVF cycle.

EMBRACE is for all the patients who want to increase the chances of a pregnancy without using invasive techniques.

The main benefits of this test are:

  • It is a non-invasive solution which favors a IVF-treatment with more security and efficiency.
  • It reduces the number of cycles, and consequently also the time to achieve a pregnancy.
  • It allows to evade the embryonal biopsies and reduces the costs, which is why it is available for a higher number of women.
