Puberty is the stage of life where the physical and mental development (maturity) of women begins, with changes that begin the passage to adulthood. It constitutes the first phase of adolescence.
At this stage, girls begin to develop secondary sexual characteristics due to hormonal influence, such as the development of pubic axillary hair and first manifestations of breast development, generally from the age of 9.
The first period (Menarche) also appears, at an average age of 12 years, reaching the reproductive capacity. The first few periods may be irregular and painful.
In some cases, the age can be different when changes appear.
EARLY PUBERTY
First Menstruation before the age of 10
• Tall girls for their age.
• But finally their growth stops before and their height will be less.
• Always rule out any organic pathology that causes it.
• Generally, no organic cause is found to justify it.
• The treatment consists of pharmacological preparations that delay the period.
LATE PUBERTY
The Menstruation comes after the age of 16 or doesn’t arrive
• Funtional causes, malformations of genital organs or genetic causes.
• In these cases, a gynecological study and hormonal and genetic análisis are recommended.
