EPISODE 9. THE EMBRYO-TRANSFER IN ASSISTED REPRODUCTION (IVF/ICSI)

EPISODE 9. THE EMBRYO-TRANSFER IN ASSISTED REPRODUCTION (IVF/ICSI)
22 April, 2020 Centro Médico Manzanera

The big day finally comes. After going through all the procedures that I have been describing in the previous episodes of this series, here comes the time for the embryo-transfer. This procedure involves the introduction of the embryos (previously selected in the assisted reproduction laboratory) into the patient’s womb, with the help of a catheter and in a painless way.
Throughout the whole treatment, we keep in contact and we have been informing you about how many eggs have been collected after the egg retrieval, and how many of them have been fertilized.
On the day we are supposed to carry out the embryo-transfer, the embryologists meet with the doctor who is following your case and we will inform you about the number of embryos we have and the quality to help you make the decision about how many embryos we transfer.
Currently, the reproduction law in Spain allows a transfer of up to 3 embryos maximum. The decision on the number of embryos to transfer will depend on each patient since there are many aspects that we need to take into account: age of the patient, quality of the embryos, stage of development of the embryos (day 3 or day 5), her medical history, etc.
Once the embryo-transfer is performed, you can rest in one of the rooms enabled for this. This is a very important process and we believe that it is beneficial for patients to experience each moment of the treatment in a special way. After a few minutes, the doctor will give you indications and guidelines to follow during the following days. The outcome of the embryo-transfer will be known 15 days later, with the result of the beta-hCg (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) hormone test

Send us an email to info@centromedicomanzanera.com or fill out the following contact form https://www.centromedicomanzanera.com/en/formulario_en/ so that we will assess your case and get back to you as soon as possible.

Have a nice day!
