Ultrasound
Observation of breasts and genitals with ultrasound
This technique is based on the transmission and reception of ultrasound waves. This technique has become very useful as a diagnosis tool in conjunction with mammography. For younger women ultrasound may make unnecessary the exposure to radiation from x-rays. In utero, ultrasound can display both benign and malignant tumors. Today, for the ovaries, ultrasound is the only technique capable of finding tumors that normally show no symptoms.
